Our Public Health Team are looking to appoint a Public Health Research Officer for one year. The post is a full-time but part-time working would also be considered.
This is an exciting role developing research skills and capability within Public Health and the wider Council. The post will work in collaboration with academic partners and in partnership with similar roles in our neighbouring local authorities.
The focus of the role will be to build on existing research experience within the Council to develop a culture of research readiness across our teams, and to develop strong links between research and improvements in practice on the ground.
We are looking for someone with strong research skills and background, who is enthusiastic and able to inspire and motivate others. You will work closely with a range of colleagues, both internally and externally, and should have experience of partnership working.
You will enjoy working as part of a team and also be a self-starter able to work on your own initiative.
We are a small, supportive and enthusiastic team looking to welcome the right individual to this role.
This position is for a fixed term of 12 months from the start date.

Skills
Essential:
Strong research skills.
Strong communication skills.
As this post meets the requirements of the Immigration Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
Knowledge
Essential:
Knowledge and understanding of research and the research landscape.
Understanding of the public health agenda, epidemiology and the wider determinants of health.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
Masters degree level.
