The role

'The Sport and Physical Activity Service wants to make Camden one of the most physically active places to live and work in the Capital. We have just undertaken a review of our priorities for investment and refined our approach so that we can build on our contribution to delivering the Camden Plan. We are now looking to add to our team of dedicated sport, physical activity and health professionals who can help to harness the health benefits of sport and physical activity for the people of Camden’.

This role co-ordinates the development of our community led offer to increase sustainable opportunities for Sport and Physical Activity to increase access, participation and improve health outcomes.

With overall responsibility for the local delivery plan and programme/s in defined target areas in the borough, the post holder will identify and utilize resources from partners to deliver sustainable sport and physical activity interventions.

Partnership working will be at the heart of this role, creating strong links between borough leads, clubs and community providers; ensuring that providers have a range of positive development opportunities. It will work within an emerging quality assurance framework to support the expansion of a network of high quality providers, with the aim of increasing and improving sport and physical activity opportunities for Camden residents.

About you

You’ll be qualified to degree level/equivalent or hold an outstanding record of achievement in the relevant field with a good knowledge of the principles of community sport and physical activity delivery including: quality community sport, equality, diversity, targeted interventions and best practice.

To succeed, you’ll thrive in this varied and challenging role of working with local community organisations enhancing quality and customer care – whilst bringing excellent engagement, stakeholder management and negotiation skills supporting providers to access funding, delivering and improving services, safeguarding and capacity building. Responsible for marketing and communications, you’ll have excellent IT skills and a good understanding of IT systems and software packages and the ability to communicate information accurately and concisely.

You’ll be a highly focussed individual and be experienced in managing and getting the best out of teams, with the ability to deliver results.
