Job Description
Saracens is a professional rugby union team located in North London, currently enjoying a successful 2010/11 premiership campaign. Saracens are pleased to announce new internships available for the 2010/2011 season within the areas of strength & conditioning department. Saracens take pride in adopting an evidence-based approach to elite performance as well as being actively involved in driving the research process with field-based, sport specific, areas of study. As such we are looking for proactive interns, with a desire to add to this exciting professional environment, to become integrated with the athlete support team for the duration of the season.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and running of strength & conditioning sessions
- Assist in the management of athlete monitoring systems; recovery, psychosocial, hydration
- Compile data and prepare reports utilising cutting edge heart rate technology and GPS systems
- Assist Strength and Conditioning coaches in programming duties and fitness testing of players
- Coordinate provision of recovery interventions
- Preparation and monitoring of individualised supplements as directed
- Attendance, and assistance, at some A-team matches
- Take responsibility for the maintenance and upkeep of world class performance facilities
Candidate Qualities
- Essential

- Highly motivated, hardworking and committed to undertaking tasks with honesty and integrity
- A desire to develop practical skills and learn from experienced practitioners and athletes.
- A willingness to assist in daily tasks; essential to maintaining the smooth running of the team
- Able to undertake tasks to completion autonomously, sometimes at short notice.
- Desirable
- Degree level study in Sport & Exercise Science/Nutrition
- Strength & Conditioning qualification
- Proactive in engaging with the role and environment
- Sound knowledge of elite sport, preferably rugby
- Experience working with professional/ elite athletes
