Health Trainers (Health Advisor Role - West Norfolk)

Starting £15,190 per annum pro rata

22.5 hours

Health trainers help people to develop healthier behaviour and lifestyles in their own local communities. They offer practical support to help individuals change their behaviour to achieve their own choices and goals.

The role will involve encouraging people to:

• stop smoking

• participate in increased physical activity

• eat more healthily

• drink sensibly

The ability to motivate people is therefore a key part of the work of a health trainer. The roles will include 1:1 and group delivery in GP surgeries and community venues.

If successful you will be trained through a Royal Society Public Health Level 2 Award and a Health Trainer City and Guilds Level 3 award to support deprived communities, provide resources to promote health and well being, and enable 1:1 and group behaviour change intervention. With the support of a Coordinator, you will be actively involved in engaging individuals on a regular basis, delivering group work and liaising with community health service providers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to use your interpersonal skills and gain valuable experience in a varied role. No specific qualifications are required but you should have an understanding of local community issues, a flexible work approach, an interest in health and excellent communication skills.

This is a fixed term contract until February 2016 and is subject to satisfactory enhanced CRB disclosure and references.
