Four Posts

Applications are invited for a number of Physical Development Trainers to support the expansion of Physical Development Services within Thames Valley Police. These challenging and rewarding roles will be based at Sulhamstead (Nr Reading), Kidlington (Nr Oxford) and Maidenhead (until 2014, when it is expected that this post will move to Sulhamstead).

As a Physical Development Trainer you will be responsible primarily for delivering all aspects of training within the Physical Development Services portfolio, as part of a planned programme, in accordance with current policy and procedures.Duties will include assessing and reporting on the fitness and suitability of potential recruits, probationers, established officers and specialist units following testing standards and procedures. You will also be expected to support delivery of other training as and when needed.

You should be willing to develop other people and possess self-motivation and leadership skills. You will work closely with the Continuing Professional Development Team and other teams within Learning and Development to ensure an integrated approach is maintained. When qualified, you will also deliver all aspects of the Officer Safety Training package, including Classroom delivery, practical skills and Dynamic Scenario Training.

You will possess at least one recognised current fitness qualification and have recent and relevant experience of coaching or classroom based training.Experience of dealing with large groups of people is essential, together with good communication skills and IT literacy with proficient use of Microsoft Office packages.

You must be prepared to undergo further relevant training and development as required, to meet Thames Valley Police Trainer Development Programme (TDP) standards and to pass a job related fitness assessment.A full UK driving licence is essential as you will be required to travel to different locations across the force and may work flexibly, unsocial hours.
