Salary: £ 7,122 for 10 hours (£ 24,927 pro rata)

Open Age, a user led charity working with people over 50 has a new opportunity to deliver low to moderate intensity exercise classes to those limited by breathlessness. The position will involve managing the project, teaching Healthy Lungs sessions, arranging venues, advertising and programming sessions. The successful candidate will be qualified as a Chronic Respiratory Disease instructor or a level 4 REPS exercise instructor with the ability to teach sessions whilst undertaking the appropriate training.
Job Description
RESPONSIBLE TO: Open Age Director
JOB PURPOSE: To develop, teach and promote Healthy Lungs sessions for older people across community venues in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea .
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Outreach and Development
To develop , organise and teach three times one hourly weekly healthy lungs sessions
To liaise with health professionals including Pulmonary Rehabilitation teams, Physio’s and GP’s to raise awareness of Open Age provision
To produce promotional materials for distribution including articles for local voluntary and public sector publications
To undertake community outreach work to attract potential users
Setting up and maintaining systems
To negotiate use of appropriate venues and manage health and safety requirements
To ensure that risk assessments, PARQ’s and all health and safety requirements are in place
To monitor and evaluate activity , manage related paperwork and produce reports for funders
To meet project outcomes and outputs
Delivery
To personally deliver several weekly breathing relaxations sessions in community venues
To devise safe and effective exercise programmes for sessions members
Finance
To manage project budgets with support of Finance Manager
General
Any other duties that may from time to time be required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Skills and Experience
Qualified Chronic Respiratory Disease Exercise Instructor or Level 4REPS instructor willing to undertake COPD training
Experience of working with people limited by breathlessness
Experience of the development and delivery of physical activity provision in a variety of group settings in the community
Awareness of issues affecting the lives of people over 50 and a commitment to Positive Ageing.
Experience of facilitation/group work.
Ability to work with a wide range of people and professional groups within fitness and health
Ability to manage a budget
Well motivated and enthusiastic
Flexible attitude and an ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Good computer skills
Desirable qualities and skills
Experience of managing small projects
Experience of working with agencies from both the statutory and voluntary sector.
