The role

‘The Sport and Physical Activity Service wants to make Camden one of the most physically active places to live and work in the Capital. We have just undertaken a review of our priorities for investment and refined our approach so that we can build on our contribution to delivering the Camden Plan. We are now looking to add to our team of dedicated sport, physical activity and health professionals who can help to harness the health benefits of sport and physical activity for the people of Camden’.

This role co-ordinates the development of sport and physical activity opportunities for inactive and at risk populations and increases participation for a better health outcome, the role has both a peoples function and is also concerned with improving the number and quality of places to do sport and physical activity. The role has a strong enabling emphasis to ensure longer term sustainability and therefore partnership working is key.

About you

You should have relevant qualification and experience in a health and community background or have sports and physical activity background. You will have good knowledge and/or experience of working with people with long term health conditions and designing appropriate interventions. You know what it take to get people active.

You should have the ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships and possess the ability to convey complex ideas and issues both verbally and in writing to senior managers, partners and elected representatives. You must have an in depth understanding of health inequality and how sport and physical activity can help to address it in the widest possible sense.

To succeed, you will manage a complex work load including management of complex projects simultaneously including capital projects as well as developing solutions for new innovative services that successfully encourage participation in physical activity by those who don’t currently.
