Following the awarded £4.645m in funding from the Department for Transport to improve sustainable transport in the city over the next four years from the government's Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF).
Building on York's history of sustainable transport successes and the recent Cycling City programme, our LSTF programme, now to be known as Intelligent Travel York, will deliver a step change in transport provision.
The programme will deliver an integrated programme of personal, business and school travel planning combined with targeted infrastructure enhancements to increase people's travel choices. As part of the project there will be a city-wide marketing campaign, schools and business engagement projects along with a low emission, economic and health drive.
The Active Living Officer post will be part of the Intelligent Travel York Team spanning a number of directorates but will be based within the Sport and Active Leisure Team in the Communities and Neighbourhoods directorate. The aim of the post is to encourage adults to improve their health by incorporating walking and cycling into their daily lives, signposting them to information and appropriate opportunities for active living and to deliver a wide range of walking and cycling activities.
We are looking for an individual who can work collaboratively with all partners within the Intelligent Travel York project, can work effectively with local communities and residents and inspire local leaders and volunteers to provide sustainable walking and cycling activities.
