Get Berkshire Active is a Charity with a vision to ‘Get More People, More Active’. Funded mainly by Sport England, GBA is part of a national network of County Sports Partnerships and, working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, we are currently in a position to recruit two Macmillan ‘Move More’ Physical Activity Practitioners. The post holders will have experience of supporting and developing opportunities for adults, particularly those who are inactive or have health conditions, to participate in sport and physical activity. The primary purpose of the role is to work directly with patients living with cancer utilising the ‘Move More’ behaviour change pathway to promote physical activity. The post holders will play a vital role in the monitoring and evaluation of the programme and will be expected to both dovetail opportunities for their patients with opportunities already known by GBA and to help create new ones.

We are looking for individuals with experience of working in a physical activity setting, preferably within the context of adult participation and health. You will have an awareness of Get Berkshire Actives’ role and knowledge of key interventions and initiatives related to adult participation especially related to moti-vating inactive adults to become more physically active. Additionally, you will understand the challenges faced by people living with and affected by cancer and the benefits they will attain by becoming more physically active. Strong relationship management skills, well-developed communication skills and excel-lent organisational abilities will be essential to the success of the role. An ability to work under pressure with conflicting priorities would also be essential as would a willingness to work unsociable hours. A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team as well as autonomously is critical to this role.

GBA is an equal opportunities employer and so would welcome applications from all members of the community. Application is by CV and covering letter within which you should include a personal state-ment of no more than 2 sides of A4 outlining what makes you a suitable candidate touching on relevant skills, experience and qualifications ensuring you reference the essential and desirable criteria outlined in the Job and person Specification.

Applications close at 1200 on Fri 28 Apr, 2017 and interviews will take place on the 8th or 10th May. For more information contact or to submit an application contact kirsty.heath@getberkshireactive.org
