In May 2025, I presented some of my work on the production of Teaching & Learning Resources at the University of Liverpool Conference, Islands of Innovation, 2025. This page contains the resources that I made for that conference, including: my presentation, a new #openaccess web resource and accompanying explainer video.
As a lecturer with 15 years of experience in creating and sharing online educational resources, I've always been passionate about developing innovative teaching materials. Recently, I've discovered a game-changing approach that combines my pedagogical expertise with cutting-edge technology: generative AI. This session will demonstrate how AI can transform the way we create and deliver educational content, offering unprecedented opportunities for scalable content creation, personalised learning experiences, and improved accessibility and engagement. I’ll showcase how AI has allowed me to be more innovative in producing templates and visual scaffolds for presenting information, thereby enhancing the overall learning experience. Attendees will learn how to leverage AI to produce high-quality, responsive HTML code at scale, seamlessly blending AI-generated content with sound educational principles. We will also explore how AI can incorporate design principles to create visually appealing and user-friendly learning materials that support flexible, self-paced learning. Additionally, I will share insights on how this technology has enabled collaboration with colleagues, increasing innovation across campus. Participants will gain practical knowledge on implementing AI tools in their teaching practice, improving Learning Management Systems, and creating bespoke materials tailored to diverse student needs. Join me to explore the exciting possibilities that lie at the intersection of artificial intelligence and education, and discover how to stay at the forefront of educational technology.
