Location: Basingstoke
Salary: £28,203 - £31,288
Closing date: 12 Sep 2016
Are you passionate about creating and supporting opportunities within our
communities to encourage people to take part in sport and recreation?
A recent survey showed that 92% of borough residents feel Basingstoke and Deane
is a great place to live, work and visit, and that sport plays an important
role in achieving that. The council has a priority to support active, healthy
and involved communities, and whilst we have achieved much, there is more to
do. By working with our partners, you will help us deliver the objectives of
Strategic Plan for Sport and Recreation working with our clubs and
organisations to increase participation.
This role encompasses both operational and strategic work, with
responsibilities including organising and supporting a variety of sporting and
physical activity programmes and projects in the borough. You will build on the
strong working relationships established with local sports organisations and
make links with other partners in the community, health, education, and business
sectors to encourage wide involvement and deliver mutual benefits.
Educated to HND/degree level in a relevant field, you will have acquired
practical experience of working with sports clubs and organisations, supported
by a working knowledge of sports development principles combined with excellent
communication and interpersonal skills. You have a natural flair for project
management, working to defined targets with the ability to work under your own
initiative. You need to be confident conducting research, drawing conclusions
and presenting reports to a wide audience.
This is a fixed term post until March 2018.
If you are looking to join a bold, forward thinking and resilient team and are
prepared to go the extra mile, then we look forward to hearing from you.
