Plymouth College is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school for students aged 3-18, which has a global reputation for its high performance sports programme which includes swimming, modern pentathlon, multi-eventing, fencing and diving. These work alongside our equally thriving team sports within the school. At present, the school has over 100 high performance athletes, competing and medalling at national and international level, making this a very exciting environment in which to work. The school is committed to maintaining these programmes and enhances the athlete experience through nutrition, physiotherapy, strength & conditioning and lifestyle mentoring support programmes.

In order to develop our provision in this area, the school seeks to appoint a whole-school Head of Strength & Conditioning to deliver a co-ordinated and consistent approach for all pupils, including our elite athletes.

Requirements of the post
Accredited by the UKSCA (or evidence as to how they are actively working towards this accreditation) – or a recognised international equivalent
To be responsible for a consistent and coordinated whole-school Strength & Conditioning programme involving all pupils
Knowledge and experience of the development, organisation, implementation and coordination of high performance S&C programmes/delivery for elite athletes and the development of such athletes to ensure that all individuals within the programme are given the opportunity to maximise their potential
Strong communication skills, including mentoring, managing and enabling of other coaches/staff/key partners
Building and maintaining strong relationships with athletes, athlete families and partner programmes/services to continually encourage athletes towards the next level of their individual development, alongside the development of the College as a whole
Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, including coaches, physios and other relevant stakeholders
Experience of performing needs analysis of sports and individuals, including knowledge of functional screening of athletes and the demands of their sports
Experience of dealing with national level teams, athletes and NGBs

Working arrangements
You will be required to work all necessary hours to fulfil the requirements of the post. There will be an expectancy that some of the administrative duties will take place in an office environment
Will include early mornings, evening and weekend work
Will include attendance at competitions, camps and meets to support athletes when required
